If you have never been to a curly hair specialist, the first appointment looks different than what you are used to. Here is exactly what happens, what to bring, and what to expect when you walk in.
Antes de llegar
Come with your hair in its current natural state. No fresh blowout, no flat iron, no special prep. Yazmin needs to see how your hair behaves on a normal day.
Bring photos. Photos of cuts you have loved. Photos of cuts you have hated. Photos of color you want. The more visual references, the faster the conversation lands.
If you have a color file from a previous stylist, bring it. If you remember the brand and tone of past color, even verbally, that helps.
La consulta
Fifteen to twenty minutes at the start of every first appointment. Dry hair. Sitting across from Yazmin, not facing the mirror yet.
She asks about your history, your daily routine, what you wear your hair like ninety percent of the time, what you wish was easier, what has been frustrating. She looks at your hair while she listens.
By the end of the consult you both know what is realistic and what the plan is for this appointment specifically.
El corte
Dry. Curl by curl. The cut is sculpted around how your hair actually moves, not how it pretends to move when it is wet and pulled straight.
If you are getting color, the cut is shaped before the color so the dimension lands where the curls catch light.
Después de la cita
You leave with a written or texted summary of the products and the routine Yazmin recommended for your specific hair. Plus when to come back, why, and what to watch for between appointments.
Most first time clients book their second appointment at checkout.
Preguntas frecuentes
Ninety minutes for a cut only. Two to three hours if color is included. Color correction can run longer and is mapped at the consult.
Wash a day or two before so your natural texture and oils are visible. Do not show up with a fresh blowout.
Yazmin will identify it during the consult. You do not need to do homework.
The studio is intentionally private. One client at a time. A friend can wait nearby but the appointment itself is one on one.
The consult is designed to prevent that. If something does not land, Yazmin adjusts in studio. No charge for adjustments inside the first week.
